Trotlines

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

When I was young, and we were out fishing on the boat at Lake Texoma, the trotlines seemed to be everywhere. Floating milk jugs dotting the water. You’d see men pulling them up with big fish on them. It seemed like such an EASY way to fish. Why didn’t everyone do it?

I asked Dad, of course, I called them ‘troutlines’, and he explained that you needed to check them more often than we could. That’s why we didn’t fished in that manner.

Seems pretty easy, set the bait, tie it to a floating device and toss it in. Come back later.

Course, many places in this day and age do not allow trotlines of any kind so be sure to check the regulations in your area before you try setting a trotline.
