Have you ever scuba dived?

Me either, haven’t even thought about it, other than when I used to watch Flipper growing up, that and what was that show with LLoyd Bridges? Oh yeah, Seahunt.

Around here there isn’t much choice in scuba diving, you either take lessons in the city, or you wing it at Lake Tenkiller. (Lake Tenkiller has clear deep water, perfect “I’m told” for diving.)

I can tell you one thing though, if I were to show up on a fishin’ weekend, EVEN at Tenkiller, that the fellas would have a good laugh on me, if I were to come prepared to dive wearing a wetsuit!

Course they might change their mind when I tell ‘em that wetsuits aren’t just for divin, or surfin’. Shoot I bet wetsuits would come in real handy noodlin’ in cool water or for flyfishin’ instead of waders.

Lake Tenkiller

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Lake Tenkiller is one of Oklahoma’s premier lakes. Clear water attracts not only fisherman, but scuba divers!

The fishing is good, and there’s more to do there, like camping, hiking, golf, water sports, and NATURE! Tenkiller sports over 12,000 acres of water and 130 miles of shoreline, not to mention the Illinois River…

Beautiful, clear water at Tenkiller is in the foothills of the Ozarks. Dogwood trees abound and the foliage is just, well gorgeous. Many birds use Tenkiller in their migratory path. You might get to see Canada geese, ducks, monarch butterflies, warblers, and bald eagles!

The lake’s ten marinas and 14 parks are kept up to date and clean by the US Corps of Engineers.

Got a boat? There are 24 launching ramps, three floating restaurants and islands to explore. (Look for the goats and you’ve found Goat Island.)

The rock walls and the clear water just beckon. In fact if you were to stop every boat headed east on I-40 on Friday evening you’d find that most of them are headed to the lake. Not just any lake either, Lake Tenkiller.
