Here’s a peek inside the book that hints at the amazing story inside:

In their invented game Conquered Unconquered, one of the three cousins would perform a daring stunt, and the others would have to follow suit or be “conquered.” Whether it was jumping from boxcar to boxcar or executing the latest death-defying feat on their bicycles, each of the cousins looked to invent a feat that would best the other two.

Consciously or subconsciously, it’s clear how this game continued to work its magic on them throughout their lives, as each sought not to be left behind the others. And eventually, all THREE could claim to be “Unconquered,” despite incredible obstacles.

Looking for a Key West fishing charter with a Captain that knows his stuff?

Captain Joe started his entrepreneurial skills young! As a boy he used to row a boat across a marina to scour golf balls out of the water to resell. Captain Joe went on to washing boats, filleting fish and was a first mate at 18. He did a stint as a commercial and lobster fisherman and today lives his dream of captaining his own charter boat.

His state of the art boat, the Triple Time, is a 46 foot Bertram yacht, fully rigged and equipped. There’s nice cool air conditioning, two staterooms, two bathrooms, a tv-cvr, cd player and even a full kitchen.

Fishing tackle consists of Penn International Reels with 20-50 test lines.

The legendary fishing in the Florida Keys ia about the big gamefish – sailfish and marlin. For tournaments and big game billfishing, a tournament winning captain and a big comfortable boat like the TripleTime and Captain Joe Mercurio is the way to go.

The billfish are still out there … recent catches in the area include a 683 pound swordfish. This whopper was caught on an electric sport fishing reel and believed to be the largest swordfish ever landed off the Florida Keys.

There’s nothing like letting a boat Captain that knows the waters you’re fishing in take you on the salt water fishing trip of your dreams.

triple time catch

When I decided to take up golf ( a couple years ago) would you believe that the spouse suggested I get some from a thrift store?

I knew from being around other golfers that that just would not do, not even for putting around in the back yard, so I went looking myself. I paid attention to what brand of golf clubs they were using, as well as how they were using them (no lessons for me!). I asked for advice of fellow golfers about differences in materials, weights, stability, drivers, putters, wedges and even hybrid golf clubs before I ever made my decision.

I then picked out the exact set I wanted and asked for ‘that particular’ set for my birthday. Smart of me? Yes. Plus the spouse likes ‘knowing’ which of anything to buy! (This also works with fishing gear, and hunting gear… … …)

Off to hit a few!

Well jeans are fine the first time you play, on a nice cool spring day. Your second game, and third and subsequent games won’t go quite as easy.

You begin to realize that the denim binds you on your swing. Your perspiration sticks to you making the denim cling, they start to droop, then you look around and notice that everyone else is wearing something more attuned to the game of golf. They’re wearing lightweight breathable clothing.

When you get serious about golf, you decide it’s time to get some actual golf apparel so that you can forget about your clothing and focus on the game.

If the subject comes up at all, they start spouting off about who’s better, who’s gonna win. Their Liverpool vs Chelsea game (a big one fer shure) is set for May 5th and is part of the 2012 FA Cup Final.

I wonder if they have soccer tailgates? Painted faces? Rowdy crowds?

I just bet they do!

I went back and forth. Is this tent sturdy enough for me? Is it big enough. What do other people think about this particular one?

I didn’t buy it though.

Then today I run across a site with actual Tent Reviews and now I could kick myself in the butt! I should have bought that tent, at that great price, when I saw it.

When you get outside the nearby lakes and you head to one of the destination lakes, Eufaula, Tenkiller, Grand you start to see different kinds of boats. You still see tons of bass boats, I mean this IS Oklahoma after all. You still see speed boats and ski boats but you also start to see some higher end boats too. There are a few catamarans out there, and boy, do they garner looks when they pass by.

Everyone wishes they could own one, or at least take a day trip on one!

These big boats are perfect for a day out fishing; even lake fishing even though these big catamarans are also great for offshore.

I’ve heard tell that they are fuel efficient, speedier and able to sleep more folks and extremely stable. Does that mean that you should fish when the weather’s made the lake all whitecapped and choppy? No. Does that mean that you can fish even when a blue norther or a twister is headed your way. No, it just means that safety abounds in a stable catamaran.

catamaran

Every day, I see people pulling boat trailers headed to one of the local lakes.

I see people with big old honkin’ trucks haulin’ big honkin’ boats. I also see people in little clown cars pulling little dinghys. All of them headed for a day at the lake doing ‘whatever’ they want. Some folks party. Some folks ski. Some folks play. Some folks fish.

Their choice of boat might be one of circumstance, or born out of necessity (working boat), or their water born toy-joy of the moment.

I’ve friends with little fishing ‘jon’ boats, friends with bass boats, ski boats, pontoon boats, and I’ve even got a bud with a river raft. Sure, a river raft is a boats too. I mean, it floats doesn’t it? A river raft is more than something Tom Sawyer or Tom Hanks nailed together; they’re becoming more mainstream. They’re rugged and durable and that says a lot!

But river rafts, (or other inflatables) are something you see around these parts too much. He hauls his to the mountains every summer. He swears by his Mariner Intex Boats, and loves those rapids. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up moving to the mountains just to fuel his passion.

And ya know, that’s what fishing (and boating) is all about. Fueling your passion.

No matter what your passion, reach for it. Learn, experience, DO. If you’ve been thinking about a fishing trip in the back of your mind, well, there is no better time than the present.
