Dad’s Day Huntin’ Book

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Amazon rules.

More and more people are buying on Amazon, and not just for hard to wield items like toilet paper, no people are buying up food storage supplies, like GOLDEN GRILL Russet Premium Hashbrown Potatoes, and Williams chili seasoning. They’re also buying toys and as always books on their favorite subjects.

Dad’s day will be here before you know it. Does he hunt?
Consider getting him a deer hunting book.

There’s always something new to learn and it’ll give him something to read in the deer stand!

Outdoor Deals

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

This past year I’ve become more enamored with the deal a day sites. Have you? Sure, lots of times the ‘item of the day’ isn’t anything I’d be interested in. What the outdoor world needed was one site with cheap outdoor gear deals everyday.

Well EveryDayGearDeals.com is that place. They take the time to venture across all the deal sites and bring back just the outdoor gear deals, all in one place.

Today for instance, the outdoor deals included a knife, a backpack, and even a skateboard.

Something to peak my interest ‘fer shure’ and certain to make me return.

Camping Vacation

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

When I was growing up we went on an annual vacation. It always involved the car, a road trip , and camping. You see, ‘back in the day’ almost everyone took car trips, they didn’t fly.

The car was the cheapest way from here to there, and camping made the trip even more reasonable. There were campgrounds and roadside parks all across this country.

Dad always started the trip days before by making a list of everything we’d need, sourcing, gathering, checking to see if anyone was worn out, and checking off his list as it went into the car.

Mom too prepared, clothing, food, lots of food.

Today, there are still campgrounds, and parks open to camping, maybe not as many as there were long ago, but they’re around. A trip across the country these days, even with the price of gas, can be affordable when you factor in camping versus staying in a motel, and cooking your own food versus eating out three meals a day.

But, you need that preparation list! Start out by checking out the status of your own camping supplies. Worn? Repair or replace.

Do a little planning beforehand and you’ll be sure to have a great, safe, affordable vacation this year.

Feeling Safe

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Contribution by Stevie Kirby

When we first moved, I logged on to SecurityChoice.com to explore home-security options. My husband travels a lot, so many nights it is just me home alone with my two young daughters.

We do have two dogs, but sometimes I wonder if there was an intruder, would our dogs do anything but attack them with wet, slobbery kisses? My dogs are certainly not the ferocious type, but you never know what your animals are capable of when they feel as if they are in danger. Would they revert back to pure animalistic instincts to protect and defend their pack?

In having a home security system, I don’t have to worry about relying on my dogs or my husband to make my family feel safe. I feel empowered as a woman and as a mother that I will never be left to question my family’s safety at any given moment. Peace of mind carries no price-tag especially when there are so many things out of your control.

Sadly we live in a world where no place is without concern, so we all do our best to protect our families and investments to our highest potential.

The Right Backpack for You

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

I caught an episode of Doomsday Preppers the other day. Interesting. One thing I noticed was the backpack the ‘store’ sold the girl that planned on walking out of the city.

Well at first the guy was gonna sell her a bag that looked like a carry on or satchel but converted to a backpack. Then we saw her later with what appeared to be an everyday backpack like what you’d see kids carry books in. She had ‘stuff’ hanging off the bottom of it too.

First of all it didn’t fit her right and the center of gravity was way off. She needed more of a hiking backpack.

To make certain that you get the right kind of backpack for your intended use, you should look to the professionals. Ask for opinions of people that actually use backpacks, listen, learn, THEN shop.

There’s a new site especially for backpackers, located at BackPackerClassifieds where you can find and buy new and nearly new backpacks, hiking gear, camping goods and more. Find kindred spirits and learn.

You want the backpack that’s right for you.
