Metal Roofing

Friday, September 17th, 2010

We’re looking into getting a barn or other large outbuilding to house our tractor, and lawn mowers, and other outside items.

There’s a very wide price range in outdoor structures big enough to hold a tractor. There’s some low end options, like a canvas canopy/garage. And there are high end 30×60 metal buildings. We were thinking somewhere in the middle.

What we’d like to put out back is something more in the 24×24 or 24×30 range. Preferably on a cement pad with power to the building, an overhead door, and well, a porch would be nice, but not really necessary.

I’d also like to see quality metal roofing. Roofing that will withstand hail, rain and stand up to these Oklahoma winds. Today’s metal roofing far surpasses the old barn roofs of old. They’re lightweight, long-lasting and cost effective alternative to traditional roofing products.

On top of that they are virtually maintenance-free. That’s a BIG seller right there. Now to come up with the money…

A metal roof would also allow us to add a water catchment system. Water we could then use for the garden. It’s a win win.

Sharing Fish on FB

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boost Mobile. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ever been really short on phone minutes, and too far away from a land-line or an internet connection to do anything about it?

The Boost Mobile system that lets you reload your phone minutes, straight from your mobile! And even if you’re right up to the wire. The scoop? Just key in a special code and you’re connected. You can then add minutes (or Re-Boost) the account, enough to hold you over til you get home, or a whole month, your call.

Once you’re home you have the option of paying online or in person too. You can even use your credit card to make a payment (like when you’re away from your local store) or sign-up for automatic payments.

Plus there’s nothing like being out on the lake, catching a whopper and then sharing it with your Facebook and Twitter friends, right then and there, while you’re still super excited! AND, these new phone offer UNLIMITED connections to Facebook for one low price per month.

I like the fact that I can use my current phone, a Blackberry because, well, I’ve grown accustomed to it, and it’s grown accustomed to the back pocket of my jeans.

12 Volt Power Issues

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Not enough 12 volt power sockets on your boat?

Did you know that your local marine store has marine versions of your car’s cigarette lighter socket?

Yes! You can then power your cell, your pc, a flashlight and more all right there without ever getting out of the boat!

Boy, now if my wireless service would just pick up way out on the lake…

Fishin’ Huntin’ and Beauty School

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Some guys are made for fishin’ and huntin’ and some guys are, well not. I’ve this good friend that I’ll call Buddy. Buddy always fixes his hair EVEN when we’re just headed out to the lake. Seems he thinks he might meet a fishin’ lady and he wants to look his best at all times.

Buddy’s a little different than my other fishin’ buds, he’s a little more ‘artistic’ if you will. He believes in ‘individual expression’, Man, can’t believe I’m saying this. He’s even expressed interest in going to  beauty school.

I had to ask him ‘exactly’ what that meant. He was way over my head when he told me that he wanted to learn how to ‘do’ hair.

I had to ask, “You mean, like how to do a buzz cut?”

“No man, I want to do ladies hair.”

Right then and there he lost me. Couldn’t imagine why my fishin’ bud would want to do that. I had ‘strange’ thoughts and wondered about all those weekend long fishin’ trips we’d been on.

He elaborated: “I want to bring my talents out, learn about cuts that flatter and products that help hair do what you want it to, about the right colors for the right skintones.”

Then I noticed his big old grin.

“Had ya, there, didn’t I? I just want to meet women! Lots of women!

We both had a big guffaw over that one. Only thing is, he was serious. He’s headed there this fall with the intention of learning all he can, so he can get his hands on women.

I just shook my head. Some guys will do anything.
