What Do You Do With An Old Christmas Tree?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

What do you do with your old Christmas tree?

Lots of folks set them by the curb for the trash man. City residents often have the option of either taking them to a composting center or leaving them curbside for pickup for recycling.

That leaves lots of room for country folk to wonder what to do with theirs.

If you’ve a pond on your property, and there are fish in there, well you can give the fish a New Year’s present by tossing in the Christmas tree.

Your discarded pine or cedar will provide a healthy habitat for your fish. They provide cover for the small fish, which draws the bigger fish making it a future good fishing spot.

Recycle them in your own pond – don’t discard them into public lakes!

Fishing in Hawaii? Big Changes Ahead

Hawaii is planning on putting restrictions on overnight camping on Kapapa Island as well as other wildlife sanctuary areas. The overnight ban will hurt night fisherman.

Other changes in the planning session included pier and mooring fee increases, as well as entry and parking fees at state parks. The plan was to raise $8 million ‘per year’ in these new and increased fees. The money would be used for repair, maintenance, and operational improvements in state parks, harbors, trails, boat ramps, moorings and piers.
