Billy and Willy were at Sunday school studying about Noah’s ark. On the way home, Willy asked,
“Do you think Noah did much fishing?”
“How could he?” said Billy.
“He only had two worms”.

I happened to catch Outdoor Oklahoma on Sunday morning this week. They were talking about a Big 12 Tournament of Fishing. They were talking about the 08 Big 12 Championship held at Lake Eufaula this past summer.
It was Big 12 colleges in a fishing competition. The winner? University of Oklahoma! Suppose they had a ‘home lake’ advantage?
The OU students, Jordan Nichols and Justin Hurd hauled in the win in this first ever Big 12 tournament of fishing.
Seven Big 12 universities participated in this first annual event in Oklahoma.
The rankings:
1. Oklahoma (Team members: Chip Porche, Mark Johnson, Jordon Nichols and Justin Hurd) 50.13 pounds
2. Texas Tech (Jake Szot, Scott Jones, Chad Pabody, Dustin Cotton) 35.47 pounds
3. Oklahoma State (James Elam, Daniel Davis, Orie Chambers, Josh Bryant, Kris McDonald) 34.98 pounds
4. Texas (Bobby Frey, Ty Brockhoeft, Billy Waldschmidt, Chris Allen) 29.62 pounds
5. Kansas State (Jared Fish, Casey Burden, Casey Smith, Ryan Koelsch) 12.63 pounds
6. Colorado (Justin D’Atri, Alex Kaufman, Brad Stanndard, Tim Gerke) 9.68 pounds
7. Nebraska (Shane Strope, Ryan McFarland, Tony Cimino, Seth Zenter) 0 pounds
Can’t fish as much as you’d like? Got an I-phone?
There’s a new fishing app for the I-phone! It’s called ISimply Fish. It’s new, released on 2-28 and it requires an iphone or an ipod touch with the iphone 2.2.1 software update and it lets you fish away to your hearts content.
Well, virtually, that is. No skeeters, no wind, no smelly bait, just fishing.

I don’t know why, but, events that I want to attend always seem to be somewhere besides here!
Case in point, in Creede Colorado at the 4UR Ranch there’s going to be a Wine and Waders retreat this coming June 14-20th.
Events include a fly-fishing school for beginner-beginners, the retreat itself, fishing, horseback riding, hot springs as well as meals, and, the full shebang, the full retreat. The big package includes fly-fishing instruction in clinical format.
Pricing begins at $2390 at one of Colorado’s finest guest ranches. There’s a private trout stream, hot springs spa, massages, yoga, and horseback riding. You get world class fly-fishing, amazing mountain scenery, gourmet food and it’s just for women, so you can let your hair down, and be yourself.
You can read more about it and sign up at http://www.4urranch.com
I attended a gift show yesterday. The star of the show as far as I’m concerned? Luscious Lures.
The gentleman running the booth, a cross between Einstein and the ‘oatmeal’ man Wilford Brimley, was as charming as can be and a delight to meet.
His son, Aaron was the brainchild behind Luscious Lures. Aaron spent a lot of years in the military and painted a lot of logos, etc on jeeps and the like and recently decided to combine his passion of fishing with his painting talent as well as his love of lore and beautiful women. The result was this gorgeous line of mermaid fishing lures.
And paint he does! His designs are meant to be bright and eye-catching, not only to the fisherman but to the fish too. One side features a beautiful mermaid, and the other side is shiny to attract the fish, lots of fish!
These mermaid lures come in individual packages for gift giving AND in larger gift sets.
